Music and stage arts are part of the Dubliner culture as well as Irish culture in general. There are a couple of places where you can enjoy a drink while listening to poets, storytellers, musicians and singers. Feeling a bit talented yourself? Why not pop on stage for a small performance! Here is a list of places to go for an open Mic Nights in Dublin.

Whelan’s Song Cycle

Every Monday at 9pm the pub hosts the Singer Songwriter night “Song Cycle”. Located in the upstairs venue at 25 Wexford Street, Dublin 2, local and non-local are invited to experiment, sing and share their song. A delightful evening on an eclectic atmosphere ahead.

The Circle Sessions at the International Bar

A mix between regular performer and new talent this place is run by a performance collective of poets, musicians, comedians and other performance artists. No need for a mic for them, the audience is carefully listening and educated to appreciate all style and arts. Don’t be shy you can still perform on their small stage as an “impromptu” performer. Resident Open Mic at The Mercantile

This is a place to go for an open mic with a twist. Hosted by famous names in the business of making songs. During their residence, classic songs and original creations will be played but most importantly it gives a chance for new songwriters to play their music in front of some of their favourite songwriters. Everyone is welcome, first on the list come first. Sign up starts at 8pm every Wednesday at the Mercantile on Dame Street.

That’s it at Sin É

Pop up at the intimate Sin É on Mondays at 9pm for their Open Mic night or for a chance to perform live, don’t forget your USB key, you will get a free recording set. This music venue is located in Dublin 1 at 14/15 Upper Ormond Quay, have a look at their website to see their line-up each week.

If you are looking for Irish charm this is the Open Mic you should go for. Situated in Dublin 8, the Darkey Kelly’s welcomes musicians from all across the world with many home-grown veterans popping up.

The Ruby Sessions at Doyle’s

The Ruby Session is an acoustic club hosted by Doyle’s pub at College Street in Dublin 2, every Tuesday night. It is on for the last 16 years and celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Paolo Nutini, Lisa Hannigan and Damien Rice have attended this event. No wonder the Ruby Session has become a staple of the Irish music scene with heavyweight names dropping by.
